General Instructions

Florida C Corporation Tax Extension

Florida Form F-1120 (Florida Corporate Income/Franchise Tax Return) is due by the 1st day of the 5th month after the end of the tax year (May 1 for calendar year filers) or the 15th day following the non-extension deadline for the corresponding Federal tax return (e.g. May 1 if the Federal return is due April 15), whichever is later. If you cannot file on time, you can request a 6-month Florida C Corporation tax extension.

Use Form F-7004 (Florida Tentative Income/Franchise Tax Return and Application for Extension of Time to File Return) to apply for a Florida C corporation extension. This form must be submitted by the original filing deadline of your Florida tax return.

Florida S Corporation Tax Extension

S Corporations must file Florida Form F-1120 by the 1st day of the 4th month after the end of the tax year (April 1 for calendar year filers). If you cannot file your S Corp tax return by the due date, you can request a 6 month Florida S Corporation tax extension.

File form F-7004 (Florida Tentative Income/Franchise Tax Return and Application for Extension of Time to File Return) to apply for a Florida S corporation extension by the tax return filing deadline.

Florida LLC Tax Extension / Florida Partnership Tax Extension

Florida Multi-Member LLC's and Partnerships must file Florida form F-1065 by the 1st day of the 4th month after the end of the tax year (April 1 for calendar year filers). If you are unable to file form F-1065 by the due date, you can request a 6 month Florida LLC tax extension or if applicable, a Florida Partnership tax extension.

File form F-7004 (Florida Tentative Income/Franchise Tax Return and Application for Extension of Time to File Return) to apply for a Florida LLC tax extension or Partnership tax extension, by the tax return filing deadline.

Regardless of your business' entity type, an extension does not give you more time to pay your Florida tax. To avoid interest and penalties, make sure to pay your state tax balance by the original due date. You can file Form F-7004 and/or make a state tax payment by paper mail or electronically using the Florida e-Services “File and Pay” system.

Note that the State of Florida does NOT recognize the Federal tax extension, which means that Form F-7004 must be filed to obtain a Florida tax extension, whether or not you have a Federal extension.
