State of Montana Business Income Tax Extensions

E-file an IRS business tax extension with TaxExtension.com

General Instructions

Montana corporation tax returns are due by the 15th day of the 5th month after the close of the tax year. For calendar year filers, this date is May 15. If you cannot file on time, you can get a Montana tax extension.

Montana business extensions are automatic, which means there is no application to submit. A Montana extension will give you 6 extra months to file the corporation return, moving the filing deadline to November 15 (for calendar year taxpayers). However, a tax extension only gives you more time to file, not to pay. Your Montana corporation income tax must be paid by the original due date (May 15) or interest and penalties will apply.

If you need to make a state extension payment, use Montana Form CT (Montana Corporation License Tax Payment Voucher). Tax payments can also be made electronically via Montana Online Services: revenue.mt.gov/online_services
